The Monterey/Carmel/Big Sur area is one of my favorite places in California. This coastal getaway has it all, from fantastic food and stunning beaches to world-class attractions and incredible hikes.
My favorite “home base” for this region is Monterey. On my first trip here, I stayed at the Hotel Pacific, a chic, luxury oasis perfectly located in Monterey.
Here’s what it’s like staying at the Hotel Pacific, the best hotel in Monterey!
This hotel features 105 suites, along with an outdoor garden and patio, hot tub, business center, meeting space for up to 70 guests, and spa services. So this coastal retreat is a perfect place to treat yourself for a few nights.
The overall atmosphere of Hotel Pacific is laid-back luxury. This hotel has all the coastal charm you could want, combined with the modern and luxury amenities you expect in Monterey.
This hotel was exactly my style, and I wish I could have stayed for days to enjoy the coastal elegance. Plus, Hotel Pacific is dog-friendly, so you can bring your furry friends!
All of Hotel Pacific’s rooms are suites. There’s the standard or luxury suites with a king or two double beds, or you can upgrade to a premier suite for expanded seating and either vaulted ceilings on the top floor or courtyard access on the bottom floor.
The rooms are designed to look like beach cottages. The coastal decor is beautiful and inviting, with nautical colors, French doors with shutters, and shiplap ceilings.
Every room comes with spa-like bathrooms, a sleeper sofa, a kitchenette, a private patio or balcony, and a sitting or dining area.
Food & Drink
An excellent complimentary breakfast and afternoon refreshments are included with your stay.
Hotel Pacific doesn’t have a restaurant or bar on-site. But this didn’t bother me because when you’re in Monterey, you want to be out dining on the waterfront. The hotel is just minutes (by walking) from some of the city’s best dining and drinking.
Hotel Pacific is a few minutes’ walk from the waterfront, the Monterey Bay Aquarium, Fisherman’s Wharf, Cannery Row, A Taste Of Monterey, and some of the best shopping and dining in the city.
You couldn’t be more conveniently located in the city than at Hotel Pacific!
The hotel is also only a short drive from Pebble Beach and Carmel-By-The-Sea. Big Sur is a bit further south (about 45 minutes), but the hiking and beaches in Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park are worth the drive.
Now that you know where to stay in Monterey, here’s My Guide To Monterey, Carmel-By-The-Sea, and Big Sur!
Hotel Pacific was more than just a beautiful and luxurious place to stay during my time in Monterey. It was also a very safe place to stay. In response to COVID-19, Hotel Pacific is doing everything possible to keep its guests safe, informed, and apart while still creating an inviting and welcoming atmosphere where you don’t feel isolated.
The hotel has implemented physical distancing layouts in all common areas and is adhering to the strictest of sanitation procedures. And, most importantly for me, the hotel is holding their guests accountable to follow all sanitary, safety, and social distancing protocols.
Travel has changed. There are new and different considerations now. You have to do a lot more research and planning, especially when it comes to your accommodation.
This means that when you do travel again, you need to seek out places like Hotel Pacific that are going above and beyond to accommodate and care for their guests.
